The Clinic

About The Clinic
The Parent Infant Clinic was established in 1990 and is staffed by psychologists, psychotherapists and other professionals who specialise in the mental health of infants, children and adolescents.
We are experienced at working with children with special needs, including autistic behaviours, Aspergers, ADHD, learning difficulties, challenging behaviours and other developmental conditions.
We work with a wide range of problems including difficulties in feeding, sleeping, bonding and separation in infancy. With older children and teenagers we can help with problems such as anxiety, depression and school phobias.
Together we can help support parents to recognise their child’s individual challenges and strengths, and work individually with the child to resolve their difficulties and develop to their full potential.

RE:Start
Re:Start is an intensive family programme that helps where a young child shows developmental problems or emotional and cognitive dysregulation.
Re:Start helps parents and infants to build upon their strengths and to find new ways to relate to one another.
A Story From Real Life
“For us the overwhelming lesson was that we have, even in a newborn baby, a personality. A person who experiences fear and happiness in their own unique way and responds to our fears. When we don’t take time to look for the tiny signs they send us to understand their feelings and respect them, they can become overwhelmed by the world around them, even though it is perfectly normal to us. I have learnt to let him come to me, for him to build up a relationship with us based on his sense of security. He gets more and more confident in including us each day. Every time he holds my gaze it’s like Christmas and that wouldn’t have happened before the Parent Infant Clinic”.
